Networks call for regulatory stability

The Energy Networks Association has called for the new Government to provide stability and security for the industry and to allow Ofgem to work independently. The new Conservative government has recently appointed Amber Rudd as Secretary of State for Energy and Andrea Leadsom as Energy Minister.

ENA Chief Executive David Smith said:

"Energy will undoubtedly remain at the top of the Government's agenda as the industry continues to deliver solutions to one of the biggest challenges we face. The networks are a critical part of ensuring secure, affordable and sustainable energy into the future but for long term investment to benefit consumers, regulation should be consistent and independent.” "If the government provides clear direction and certainty for network investment, companies can develop the smarter networks of the future, discover ways to improve reliability and flexibility of infrastructure while keeping costs down."

The ENA has provided a key policy recommendation to the Government named ‘General Election 2015: The Agenda for Energy Networks.’ It calls for a stable regulatory environment and consisted policies.
