Oil and gas industry sets out key asks from Scottish government

A manifesto has been published by Oil & Gas UK outlining four key commitments being made by the Scottish Government to secure the future of the North Sea oil and gas industry. The organisation has called on the next Government to:

1. Create a supportive business environment to ensure Scotland remains internationally competitive.

2. Deliver an internationally recognised infrastructure that ensures connections to Scotland from overseas.

3. Promotion of innovation to flourish as technology will play a greater role.

4. Offering support to skills retention and development of the work of the Energy Jobs Task Force.

Deirdre Michie, Chief Executive for Oil & Gas UK, said: “We have enjoyed constructive relations with the outgoing Scottish Government and MSPs and look forward to forging the same links with the next Parliament. Our manifesto outlines the commitments the Scottish Government can make to help protect and preserve our industry which supports hundreds of thousands of jobs and is critical for helping to deliver the UK’s energy needs.”
