Commons blocks lengthening of RO grace period

The House of Commons has voted against an amendment (7T) to the Energy Bill. The amendment would have increased the grace period for onshore wind projects affected by the early closure of the Renewable Obligation.

The amendment would have seen a one-year grace period applied for projects where the planning authority had granted planning for a wind farm by 18 June 2015. Energy Minister Andrea Leadsom has called for the Bill to be completed quickly so as to give confidence to the wind industry.
