SNP pledges more ambitious emissions cuts

The UN Climate Summit held last year called for all countries to increase their ambition and to cut emissions. Tackling climate change remains one of the UK’s leading global issues.

Scotland remains one of the leading countries. Recent evidence suggest they are on target to exceed their 42% target. The country had already reached 38.4% back in 2013. With a re-elected leader, the target of 50% could be reached.

The Director of Friends of the Earth Scotland, Richard Dixon said that the new 50% target will be “powerfully iconic” and will send a “strong signal to others to up their game.”
