Coal’s share of generation hits record low in first quarter

The Government has agreed to set the fifth carbon budget at the level recommended by the Committee on Climate Change. The Committee has published its data which formed the basis of their advice.

The Committee recommended a 57% reduction in UK emissions from 2028-2032 on 1990 levels. The “Central scenario” within the fifth carbon budget could meet this.

There is a focus on the UK being flexible as they learn.
