GREEN ENERGY UK SHORTLISTED AS FINALIST FOR THE 2008 SUSTAINABLE HOUSING AWARDS
Green Energy UK has been shortlisted in the Green Energy Supplier category of The Sustainable Housing Awards 2008, organised by Inside Housing magazine.
The event is the first awards scheme in the UK to focus on the best “green” social housing projects constructed in the UK, and the organisations responsible for them. The trophies will be presented at a suitably “eco” awards ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in London’s Park Lane on Tuesday 11 November.
More than 130 entries were received for the awards, which will be hosted by top impressionist, and keen environmental campaigner Alistair McGowan.
Ted Stevens, Inside Housing’s events director and the organiser of the awards said: “We’ve had a terrific response and Green Energy UK has done brilliantly to get shortlisted from such a huge field. Britain is leading the way on sustainable housing and innovative building techniques so we’re delighted we’re able to organise a ceremony to reward that organisations that are delivering best practice”.
green energy uk already supply a number of architects who are involved in sustainable design and want to show their own environmental credentials. ‘Incorporating energy saving measures and where possible embedded generation into the design of new housing and office developments is the most efficient way for us to conserve the energy we use and reduce our reliance on fossil fuels’ says Doug Stewart green energy uk’s CEO

About green energy uk
Green energy uk is a young, Hertfordshire-based company which has grown substantially since it was established in 2001, and by 50% in the past year alone. It has a very unusual and radical business model: it is giving away half of its business in shares – the first 100,000 customers are getting 400 shares each. This not only gives them a potential stake in the future, but involves them in the business and its successes.
green energy uk facilitates investment in a wide range of technologies including small scale hydro, CHP, organic waste gasification, vegetable oil and pig waste. In fact, 70% of the generators who supply green energy uk were not in business when the company was formed. More information is available at www.greenenergy.uk.com
