The Good Shopping Guide, one of the country’s leading authorities on the ethical comparisons of companies and brands, and the publisher of the world’s best-selling ethical shopping reference book, has placed 100Green at the top of its list of ethical, green energy suppliers in the UK.
100Green is the only energy supplier in the UK that supplies its customers with 100% green gas and renewable electricity. Founded in 2001, 100Green has championed the supply of green energy to homes and businesses across the country, long before the climate emergency was called and the Net Zero targets were set.
In ranking 100Green as its number one energy supplier, alongside Octopus Energy, The Good Shopping Guide examined 100Green’s ethical impact on the environment, people and animals, and considered a range of criteria such as 100Green’s energy mix, its environmental reporting, its pollution record and whether or not it made political donations (it does not).

The Good Shopping Guide said: “100Green should be particularly proud of its achievements in pioneering and supporting the global transition to green energy, which is evidenced in the company’s fully renewable fuel mix and unique status as the only energy company to provide 100% green gas.”
“Moreover, The Good Shopping Guide recognises 100Green’s efforts in assisting vulnerable households during the current cost of living crisis. This demonstrates that it is not only concerned with the environment, but also the wellbeing of its customers.”
“Overall, 100Green’s ethical policies and practices shine a light on the company’s commitment to being a socially responsible business, with the important mission of providing green energy across the UK.”
Doug Stewart, Founder and Chairman of 100Green said: “Being regarded as an ethical energy supplier by The Good Shopping Guide is fantastic. Ever since we started our business – over 20 years ago, we have worked tirelessly to remain true to our values of business transparency and honesty, with a laser-like commitment to customer service and of course a commitment to supply green energy to our customers. We may not be the biggest energy supplier in the UK, but The Good Shopping Guide’s recognition of 100Green as a sustainable and ethical business is music to my ears, and a clear statement that a niche energy supplier can thrive in today’s energy market.”
100Green customer service staff, based at its head office in Ware, Hertfordshire, deal with all customer queries and provide advice to its customers on energy saving and managing the payment of their bills.

Notes to Editors:
In October 2023, Which? rated 100Green as a top eco-provider of energy in the UK, for the third consecutive year. And earlier this year, it was once again recognised by Ethical Consumer magazine as a 'best buy' of renewable energy in the UK. In 2022, all three of 100Green’s energy tariffs were classified “gold” in Uswitch’s green accreditation scheme. The company changed its trading name from Green Energy UK to 100Green in July 2023.
